Sri Krishna, the Personality of Godhead, who is the Paramatma [Supersoul] in everyone's heart and the benefactor of the truthful devotee, cleanses desire for material enjoyment from the heart of the devotee who has developed the urge to hear His messages, which are in themselves virtuous when properly heard and chanted.
The devotee should be more tolerant than the tree and more submissive than the grass. He should offer all honour to others, but may not accept any honour for himself.
A devotee should be simple and clean dressed, but more than dress, the mind should be clean.
Krishna and pure devotees see through the substance, not the maya the world sees through.
If an ordinary man does not eat, he will grow weak and die. Similarly, if a devotee does not taste the transcendental pastimes of Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu and Lord Krishna, he will gradually weaken and die spiritually.
