Surrendering to Lord Krishna

Krishna does not need our service, but He kindly accepts it. When Krishna asks us to surrender unto Him, this does not mean that Krishna is lacking servants and that if we surrender He will profit. Krishna can create millions of servants by His mere desire. If we surrender to Krishna, we shall be saved. As Krishna says ‘Aham Tvam Sarva Papebhyo Moksayisyami : I shall free you from all sinful reactions’.

Qualifications of a Spiritual Master

The qualification of a spiritual master is that he must have realized the conclusion of the scriptures by deliberation and arguments and thus be able to convince others of these conclusions. Such great personalities who have taken shelter of the Supreme Godhead, leaving aside all material considerations, are to be understood as bona fide spiritual masters.

Surrender

In the devotional service of the Lord, the only qualification required is surrender.  Surrendering oneself is in one’s hand.  If one likes, he can surrender immediately, without delay and that begins his spiritual life.

Surrender

Srimad Bhagavatam begins with the surrender of the devotee unto the Absolute Person. The devotee is fully aware that he is one with the Absolute and at the same time he is in the eternal position of servant to the Absolute.

Surrender

The living entity’s position is to be under the protection of the illusory energy or under Krishna’s personal protection.  When a living entity is fully surrendered, he is under the direct protection of Krishna and Krishna gives him all intelligence by which he can advance in spiritual realization.

Serving the Lord

One should try to serve the Supreme Personality of Godhead by fully surrendering at His lotus feet.  If one engages for the service of the Lord whatever money one has honestly earned, that is spiritual service to the Supreme Personality of Godhead, the spiritual master and the Vaishnavas.

Teaching

The revealed scriptures, like Manu-samhitha and similar others, are considered the standard books to be followed by human society.  Thus, the leader’s teaching should be based on the principles of such standard saastras.  One who desires to improve himself must follow the standard rules as they are practiced by the great teachers.

Crying for the Lord

One should learn how to cry for the Lord.  One should learn this small technique, and he should be very eager and actually cry to become engaged in some particular type of service.  This is called ‘laulyam’, and such tears are the price for the highest perfection.   If one develops this ‘laulyam’, or excessive eagerness for meeting and serving the Lord in a particular way, that is the price to enter into the kingdom of God.

Temple

Temple means people should come, people should learn the science of God. Temple should not be a business. Temple means spiritual educational shelter.  People should come and learn what is spiritual life, what is God, what is my relationship with God.

Training

To train a new man is like training a wild animal to be a pet.  Just like the tiger is trained in the circus and later on they are dancing to the tune of the master.  So the point being stressed is training.  A preacher should be traines to be always tolerant.
