The consideration of becoming a devotee is the association and guidance of a devotee. Love of God is the real source and when one abandons that loving real relationship of God, he suffers.
Devotee
Devotees apparently go through some difficulities at a time but those difficulties do not affect them by any means because they are always protected by Krishna's merciful embrace.
Consciousness
If we will follow four regulative principles then sins will not be able to touch us.

When we read Srila Pabhupada’s purports, we become enriched with devotion. This happens because they are written with realization.
