Simply by associating with a pure devotee, one becomes wonderfully advanced in Krishna Consciousness. Sadhu-sanga, or association with a devotee, means always engaging in Krishna Consciousness by chanting the Hare Krishna mantra but he whose heart is contaminated sees things differently. Therefore by sat-sanga, or association with devotees, one becomes perfectly pure in heart.
It is imperative that one approaches a spiritual master, for by such association one proportionately develops his consciousness towards the Supreme Personality of Godhead.
Only in the association of pure devotees can the words of Lord Krishna be fully potent and relishable to the heart and ear. Dhruva Maharaja explicitly wanted the association of devotees. That association in devotional activities is just like the waves of an incessantly flowing river.
A devotee searches out a pure devotee and simply by his association becomes more advanced in spiritual consciousness than any yogi.
How to make Krishna Consciousness interesting? How to make it attractive and relevant for everyone is what Prahlad Maharaj is showing us, "Look! don't waste your life!" Ultimately if we don't realize who we are and who is Krishna? What is the use of this human form of life?
In rice paddy filed sometimes the bird comes to eat the rice if we clap the hands, the birds fly away so when you clap your hands and chant Hare Krishna, our sins fly away like the birds. When we chant Hari, Krishna will take away the garbage.
In other types of yoga processes one does all types of austerity, meditation and penances and finally at the end one gets the samadhi like when we are going through the meal like in Bengal system we eat the bitter first and the sweet is the last like the samadhi- the ecstacy. However Srila Prabhupada said Lord Caitanya is so merciful that He gives us the dessert first like the kids would like to have the apple pie or ice-cream first, then deal with the spinach some other time, if at all. Similarly Lord Caitanya gives us the taste first-the nectar, so that way we already get little taste of bliss then gets us into the main course which is the whole process of bhakti yoga. When we are chanting the holy name by the mercy of the Lord the bliss awakens in our heart.
A devotee should live according to the situation that, he is put in, they have to live, some may be in a wealthy situation, some may be in poverty, some may be in middle, whatever situation we may be, we should be very responsible to be Krishna conscious. Krishna doesn't recognize us because we are poor or rich. He recognises us how we are engaging in Krishna's service.
As the materialists are thinking that happiness is all in sense gratification, they don't see the happiness in serving Krishna, that's where the real happiness is achieved in much higher relationship and higher purpose. Their thought is, "Alright Dharma, ardha, kama, moksha" now we will make money, enjoy our sense gratification and at the end of life go for moksha. Howvere in devotional service, we know about prema, the prema is actually the love for Krishna. It is the highest perfection and Krishna is the highest happiness also.
All of you come here to Mayapur dham because it was Srila Prabhupada's desire, just like Daksha he arranged the sacrifice, he arranged the yajna in order to make the people of universe happy and in order to give them a chance for liberation. Similarly Srila Prabhupada who is our foundational siksha guru, founder acharya, wants the welfare of all the devotees in ISKCON so he arranged this festival, the mayapur festival in order to give the unlimited mercy and super happiness by awakening our transcendental happiness.
