It is very much regrettable that unfortunate people do not discuss the description of the Vaikuntha [spiritual] planets but engage in topics that are unworthy to hear and bewilder one's intelligence. Those who give up the topics of Vaikuntha and talk of the material world are thrown into the darkest region of ignorance.
Due to so-called improvements in material opulence, people have entirely given up the path of realization. Practically no one is interested in God, one's relationship with God or how one should act. Modern men have altogether forgotten such questions because they are mad.
Just as fire applied to gold removes any discoloration caused by traces of other metals, Lord Vishnu within the heart purifies the minds of the yogis.
A devotee is the friend not only of human society but of all living entities, for he sees all living entities as sons of the Supreme Personality of Godhead. He does not claim himself to be the only son of God and allow all others to be killed, thinking that they have no soul. This kind of philosophy is never advocated by a pure devotee of the Lord.
The whole world is full of violence and a devotee's first business is to stop this violence, including the unnecessary slaughter of animals.
By one's engaging in the processes of demigod worship, austerities, breath control, compassion, bathing in holy places, strict vows, charity, and chanting of various mantras, one's mind cannot attain the same absolute purification as that achieved when the unlimited Personality of Godhead appears within one's heart.
To keep Lakshmi, or the riches of the lord, without the service of the lord is always dangerous, for then Lakshmi becomes illusory energy. With Lord Visnu, however, Lakshmi is the spiritual energy.
Srimad Bhagavatam is the topmost theological science and therefore it can react on the laymen as medical doses. There is no difference between the lord and Srimad Bhagavatam.
Even the entirety of whatever there may be within the three worlds to satisfy one's senses cannot satisfy a person whose senses are uncontrolled.
Real love is expressed through service. A mother is willing to do anything and everything to serve the child. She is willing to stay up late in the night, willing to clean all the mess that the child creates and willing to sacrifice her very life for the child. That is service.
